HANKINSON NEWSLETTER Issue Number 1 Spring 2002 Welcome everybody to the first issue of the UK HANKINSON NEWS LETTER, which aims to promote help to family genealogists searching links to their HANKINSON ancestral tree. We hope to start with two issues per year and depending on interest from site visitors adjust the issue level. Alan Taylor and myself Les Hankinson are organizing the newsletter. We intend to have topical items of interest that gives a greater understanding to our ancestors and would be pleased to receive relevant items of interest from you. The main stay will be to help make links to HANKINSON family trees and to assist in this we will be publishing transcribed parish registers for births, marriage and deaths. Items of Interest 1881 census Analysis of the 1881 census for the surname HANKINSON gave a total of 985 people for the UK. The distribution of Hankinsons showed that the main concentration was in recorded in Lancashire with 515 people and in second place was Cheshire with 227 people. Warwickshire had 92 people and these three counties represents 84.6 % of the HANKINSON people. The Lancashire town of Warrington was the hot spot with 113 Hankinsons!
