St. Helens Parish Register 1713 - 1787

St. Helen church is situated in the hamlet of Hardshaw in Windle and about 3miles from Prescot parish church and serves the four townships of Eccleston, Parr, Sutton and Windle.

During the Commonweath the Chapel was a Presbyterian place of worship and after the Restoration it continued in non-conformist hands until 1710 when it was restored to the Anglican church.

When the church was enlarged in 1816, it was dedicated to St. Mary.

In December 1916 the church was destroyed by fire, fortunately the register was saved.

The re-built church was consecrated in 1926 and the original dedication to St. Helen was re-established.

The registers start in 1713 but earlier records can be found in the mother church at

Prescot.
