St. Helen church is situated in the hamlet of Hardshaw in Windle and about
3miles from Prescot parish church and serves the four
townships of Eccleston, Parr, Sutton and Windle.
During the Commonweath
the Chapel was a Presbyterian place of worship and after the Restoration it
continued in non-conformist hands until 1710 when it was restored to the
Anglican church.
When the church was enlarged in 1816, it was
dedicated to
In December 1916 the church was destroyed by fire,
fortunately the register was saved.
The re-built church was consecrated in 1926 and
the original dedication to
